HOW TO MOD BEAT SABER!
[PCVR VERSION + stuff I personally do!]**
**[Step 1] You need to get & install:**
- Steam Version of Beat Saber ($29.99 USD on Steam)
- BSManager
- Have a computer that can meet minimum VR/Beat Saber Requirements:
-Minimum: 4GBs of ram, an Intel Core I5 Sandy Bridge (or equivalent) and an NVIDIA GTX 980 (or equivalent)
-Recommended: 8GBs of ram, an Intel Core I7 Skylake (or equivalent) and an NVIDIA GTX 1060 (or equivalent)
-To test if your PC is VR ready Click THIS then hit "Download Demo" on the right hand side!
- A VR headset that is PCVR compatible (I've seen people mod OG Quest, Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3s, Valve index)
**[Step 2] In BSManager, click the ‘+’ button in the bottom left to add the version you want to mod.**
You can see all the versions you have modded in the left hand column. This is also how you swap between versions! (Right now at the time of making this, I am using version 1.39.1! But I believe 1.40.1 is also a good version to use as well! A good rule of thumb I have found is to stay a few versions behind just so you have a A) slightly more stable version and B) access to more mods since it takes the mod developers a sec to come out with updates for the newer beat saber versions.
**[Step 3] Navigate over to the “mods” tab.**
There will already be some mods checked, leave those alone!! At this point it's up to you what mods you want to add to your game! There are helpful descriptions by each one that explain what they do to your game. Keep in mind that the more mods you add the more intense it will be on your PC! Here are some I recommend adding to get you started:
- Noodle Extensions (You can't play some maps without this one)
- Mapping Extensions (You can't play some maps without this one)
- Chroma (You can't play some maps without this one)
- Trick Saber (Make yo saber spinnnnn)
- SongPlayHistory
- Custom Notes
- Custom Walls
- Custom Banners
- MenuSaberColors
- CustomSabersLite
- Custom Background
- Scribble
- Custom Avatars
- AutoPauseStealth
- BetterSongSearch
- JDFixer
Make sure after you check the boxes you navigate down to the bottom right of that page and hit "Install or Update" to add them!
**[Step 4] AAAAND YOU’RE (Kinda) DONE!!**
Head over to the “Launch” tab, for oculus players there will be an “Oculus Mode” button to highlight. Then hit the big LAUNCH button at the bottom! DON’T LAUNCH THROUGH STEAM! At this point you can start playing modded beat saber!! I say *kinda* because there's a lot more you could add and I’ll include those below! **BUTTT** Before you consider adding anything I talk about below, you must launch the game at least once to generate the file folders of the mods you just installed. Otherwise you won’t find them!! *Tip: You can launch the game without putting your headset on btw, just hit "launch" and once it loads to the health and safety screen you can go ahead and close the program!*
**[Step 5 EXTRA] SONGS & SABERS**
Here are some helpful tips to get the most important stuff in your game!! (in my Spronkley opinion)
**SONGS:** (& 3 ways on how to get em!)
- In game, you can search for songs using “BetterSongSearch” (It'll be on the left hand side when you're facing the Beat Saber menu! Better searching tool IMO ^-^) Just think of a song, type it in, and see if someone has mapped it!
- Out of game option #1, go to the website (https://beatsaver.com) and search for any songs you like! Once you have a song picked out, you can click one of two options: 1) The cloud with the arrow down “One click” Just simply click that button and BSManager should load the song directly into your Beat Saber song list! If for some reason it doesn’t, head over to the cog wheel under the “+” button on the left, Under “Additional Content” make sure OneClick installations are selected! 2) Hit the “download” button! This will download the individual map file. In BSManager you need to hit the cogwheel in the top right hand corner then openfolder>Beat Saber_Data>CustomLevels then in that folder paste the file you just downloaded from Beat Saver!
- Out of game option #2, in BSManager select the “Maps” tab and hit the yellow ‘+Add’ button in the top left! Hit ‘browse maps’ and search whatever song you like! Then hit the download button on the map on the right!
**- BONUS:** If you’re a new player orrr you just want a poop ton of starter maps WELL I GOTCHUU! I curated a playlist where every song has at least an EASY, NORMAL, or HARD level! Cuz those are the levels I stuck too when I started playin! Have fun gamer! Spronks ULTIMATE Starter Pack! [1100+ SONGS]
Downloading this or any playlist has the same instructions as downloading an individual song! The only difference is if your using the manual download option you need to go openfolder>Playlists and paste the download file in there!
**[Step 6 EXTRA]** MOAR MOAR MOAR **Custom Notes/Blocks, Platforms, Avatars (BSManager's Avatars ONLY, Nalaluna is below)
To preface, you need to have selected the "Custom Notes", "Custom Platforms", "Custom Avatars" mods (depending on which one you're wanting) and loaded the game at least once to generate the file folder(s)!
**NOTES/BLOCKS:**
- Option #1, go to the website (https://modelsaber.com/) and navigate over to the 'Bloqs' tab! There you can peruse the bloq selection! Once you find a bloq pattern you like, there are two ways you can get it into your game: 1) Click the 'Install' button! Just simply click that button and BSManager should load the bloq file directly into your Beat Saber 'Custom notes' folder! If for some reason it doesn’t, head over to the cog wheel under the “+” button on the left, Under “Additional Content” make sure OneClick installations for 'Models' are selected! You should also see a purple 3D square and if you hover over it it should say Model Saber. 2) Click the 'Download' button! This will download the individual bloq file. In BSManager you need to hit the cogwheel in the top right hand corner, then openfolder>CustomNotes then in that folder paste the bloq file you just downloaded from Model Saber!
Option #2, in BSManager select the “Models” tab and hit the yellow ‘+Add’ button in the top left! Under the drop down on the top left select 'blocks’ and search for a block pattern you like! Then hit the download button on the on the right!
